Our guests asked and we responded!! Over the last year, more and more of our guests have requested Internet, so they can extend their mountain getaway stay and continue to access their emails and the games and music the family enjoys during their visit to the incredible Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge area of Southeastern Kentucky!
Although we encourage our guests to get away from technology and get back to nature – and to re-connect with loved ones up close and personal – we understand that sometimes it’s vital to stay connected.
Many of our guests have added additional days to their mountain getaways this year because now they can stay in touch with family and friends, stay abreast of breaking news, and keep their kids happily streaming music and playing their favorite game apps in between hiking, zip lining, swimming, kayaking and all the other great outdoor adventures available in this area. Some guests also need Internet access to stay connected to their jobs or businesses, as well.
The AT&T U-Verse Internet Elite package doubles the download speed to 6 MB, or twice the speed of the standard package available in this remote area. This means our guests can email, download music, share photos, play games, and network on social media. While watching TV shows or movies on the Internet is not included via U-Verse, all our cabins have Satellite TV or DirecTV, as well as DVDs, so our guests can enjoy TVs and movies during their stay. So far, U-Verse service has been consistent and reliable.
Internet is optional, so guests who don’t want or need access do not have to pay for it. For those opting to connect, U-Verse is available for just $7.50 per day, for a maximum of three days. This means that if you are staying five days or two weeks, you only pay for three days. Our reservation data shows that 60% of our guests have happily opted to include access to the Internet, and we expect that percentage to rise as word gets out that we have 100% availability now in all 10 of our cabins in Birch Hollow.
Cell service is still intermittent due to the remoteness of our private development, the location of some cabins in the ravines between mountains, and weather conditions over which we have no control; however, having Internet makes sure there is a way for guests to contact us in case they have questions, need assistance, and in case of emergency. This gives them peace of mind during their stay with us. We are looking into adding U-Verse voice-over to enable phone service to all our cabins, without requiring the installation of a land line phone.
Come enjoy your mountain getaway – with the option to get away from it all or stay connected!
